This is an great rendition of the Song of Durin. There is something about all of Tolkein's work that has such a meloncholy. It touches my heart in ways I can't explain.

Very Hard Choices

I am reading Very Hard Choices by Spider Robinson. If anything It is much superior to the book preceding it Very Bad Deaths. In Very Bad Deaths Russell a lovable hippie throwback is reunited with his college roomate Smelly.

Smelly is a telepath and has picked up the thoughts of a serial killer as the killer flew a plane that flew right over where Smelly was. Smelly enlists Russell to help track down the serial killer.

Normally I breeze through books. Lately I have been stuck in the second book in the third Thomas Covenant series by Stephen Donaldson.
